Together,
let's build opportunities for all!

Construction of the new house started in February 2022!

Join us in improving the lives of Montreal's most vulnerable. Together we can achieve great opportunities!

Building the new House from scratch has allowed us to expand our service offering and add a housing component lacking in the community.

WHAT? The new Labre House will feature 36 studio apartments spread across three floors, with the entrance situated on Greene Street in Montreal. Each apartment is equipped with a private bathroom, a bed, a table and chair, a small refrigerator, and a microwave. Although the units do not include a kitchen, residents will have access to the dining room in the day center, which offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The Benedict Labre House Housing Program aims to transition individuals experiencing homelessness, particularly those facing chronic homelessness, from the streets or emergency shelters to stable, long-term housing with appropriate support. This stable housing serves as a foundation for addressing the everyday challenges of individuals experiencing chronic homelessness.

OBJECTIVES? The primary objective is to enhance and cultivate the skills and capabilities of individuals based on their self-determined goals, which may encompass employment, education, social integration, health improvement, or other plans contributing to stabilizing the client's situation and fostering self-sufficiency. Each floor will be overseen by a dedicated social worker responsible for supporting the 12 tenants on that floor. The social worker will closely monitor progress and provide assistance tailored to the specific needs of each tenant.

INCLUSIVE SERVICES The center will always be a low threshold. It will be accessible to all vulnerable Montrealers who visit. Among other things, we plan on focusing on people experiencing chronic homelessness living with addictions and mental health issues in the new housing component.
