The Benedict Labre House is unique because we feel that the importance is not only in providing the services, but in the manner in which the services are provided. Being true to our roots, we feel being a part of a comfortable and respectful environment, such as a Home, gives people the strength and support needed to make positive changes in their lives.

 A major outcome of homelessness or poverty is a diminished sense of self worth. We feel that by providing a non-judgmental and welcoming atmosphere, we are able to help nourish our guest’s self esteem and help them to work towards a better quality of life. Many of the guests who come to the House do not see themselves as being part of society. Therefore, we provide an environment that enables our guests to develop a sense of belonging.

We are not a treatment centre as such, but we work with our guests in order to stress the fact that every person has an innate human dignity, the right to be treated with respect and have access to the resources needed to improve their quality of life.

We maintain an open door policy which allows us to assist guests with a wide variety of needs.  For example: helping individuals to obtain essential pieces of identification, finding housing, finding employment, providing referrals, providing an attentive ear, etc…

The Benedict Labre House provides an environment that encompasses the major attributes of a Home, because we Believe that the strength and stability of our Home helps define our Life’s foundation.
