Opportunities

As a community organization, we provide individuals and churches with opportunities to be involved in caring for the needy.

Job Creation Programs: Benedict Labre House employs six individuals who are currently receiving social assistance. We provide life-skills and job training for these workers for one year, with the goal of future employability.

Meal Teams: Groups of volunteers from a school, parish or service organization collaborate in a practical way to prepare and serve a meal. Prior booking is required and training is available.

Student Placements and Volunteering: Groups of students are welcome to help prepare and serve meals. Student Placements are welcome as volunteer workers with our guests.

Volunteer Work: Being a volunteer driven organization Benedict Labre House depends on the dedication and energy of non-salaried human resources. Volunteers work in all areas of service and administration. Volunteer training and orientation are available.

Volunteer Training: We offer a 40 hour training program for volunteers. The areas covered are; crisis intervention, active listening, anti-oppression, mental heath and addiction issues. These are all skills which aide in working with our guests.

As a non-profit organization Benedict Labre House depends on the generous financial support of churches, individuals, civic organizations, foundations and corporations to make our work a reality. Your generosity is much appreciated and an income tax receipt will be issued.
