Approach

Benedict Labre House is unique in that we stress the values of a caring and inclusive community. Many of the guests who come to the House do not see themselves as being part of society. We have attempted to provide an environment that enables our guests to have a sense of belonging, a home. We work out of a three story house that has been a fixture in the area for over 100 years.

Many of our guests have severe addiction problems as well as emotional and psychiatric problems. We are not a treatment centre as such but work with our guests so that they become aware of their problems and behaviors and provide the necessary referrals. During the week our trained staff will provide over 100 hours of support to our guests.

We often help our guests with many different tasks, these ranging from everyday tasks to life altering events such as, helping individuals to obtain essential pieces of identification, finding housing, and even conducting memorial services for some who have died. For many this house and OUR COMMUNITY is all that they can call home.
